Democracia U.S.A.

Concepsion, Irasema

"In addition to the political awareness and friendships gained, by doing door to door voter registration I got a chance to get to know my community!" — Iracema Concepsion (Cuban)

Iracema Concepsion

Irasema Concepcion was born on the Island of Cuba in 1956. She received a Master's degree in Business Administration and International Commerce. Irasema moved to the United States on May 14, 2004 in search of political freedom. She feels that she is better able to express her political point of views in the United States without fear of persecution by government officials. Irasema joined Democracia U.S.A. only weeks after arriving in the United States. In June of 2004, Irasema became part of Democracia U.S.A., and in early 2005, she was asked to be part of the Democracia U.S.A. Leadership Academy. Irasema would like to see more emphasis put on education and healthcare issues in our communities. She also feels that there is too much division among the various races that make up the Latin communities in the United States.
